Nikon Bob | Nikon D3s and 85mm Micro

Nikon Bob has sent us some new press releases, Nikon is coming out a Nikon D3s and a new 85mm Micro Lens. The Nikon D3s will have a Movie feature, a built in sensor cleaner and better low light shooting capabilities. For more info check out the D3s specs here.

The 85mm Micro Lens has VR capabilities, a close focusing distance of 27mm and a whole bunch of other neat and nifty feature check out the specs here.

Extreme Street Photography, Good or Bad?

As I am sure most of you have heard that Google Earth has finished doing their street views of Ottawa and other Canadian cities. This has stirred up some controversy in Canada regarding privacy, this Citizen Article talks about the issues facing Google.

As the web becomes more and more integrated into our daily lives these issues are extremely important to debate and to come to some consensus on. In an effort to engage our Photographic Community we encourage you to take part in our poll on this issue (See Side Bar).

Show - Ottawa Architecture

Thursday October 8, 2009 is the Vernissage at Exposure Gallery, 1255 Wellington St. West, for the show Ottawa Architecture.

This show runs in tandem with the Ottawa Regional Society of Architects', Architecture Week (Oct 2nd to Oct 9th).

This group exhibition showcases some of Ottawa's leading Architectural Photographers and would be a great show for those about to shoot their Architecture Assignment.

Inventors Of The CCD Get Some Props

Williard S. Boyle and George E. Smith the inventors for the CCD were honoured with the 2009 Nobel Prize in Physics for technology.

All of us photogs owe these guys some respect, thanks boys we love digital cameras!!!

Robert Frank - Moving Out

Moving Out is a compilation of Robert Frank's work till 1994 including images from his phenomenal book The Americans this book not only has images but critical analysis' on his work.

The book was edited by Robert Frank himself so you know it's good.

Genevieve Thauvette Wins Gold At The Francophone Games

Genevieve Thauvette has won Gold at the Francophone Games in the Culture competition Photography division, she won for her images of the Dionne Quintuplets!!

History of Photography From A Different Perspective

These two books Photography A Cultural History by Mary Warner Marien and A World History of Photography by Naomi Rosenblum are books that survey photography's vast history.

In Photography A Cultural History Mary Warner Marien keeps photography's cultural impact close at hand as she pulls back the many layers of photograph's past.

Naomi Rosenblum once again strays away from the mainstream study of the history of photography with her book A World History of Photography and thankfully so. This book shines the light on many non-western photographers who helped shape photography's colourful history.
