Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Photo Fundraiser
LA PETITE MORT GALLERYOne of the preeminent Contemporary Art Galleries in Ottawa La Petite Mort (306 Comberland St.) is having a fundraiser show in support of Doctors Without Borders.
Some of Ottawa's leading and up and coming photographers will be included in this show including Jackson Couse and Rémi Thériault both Algonquin Photography Alumni.
The show runs from September 25 - 27, 2009 and the Vernissage is Friday Sept 25 from 7-10PM.

Astronomy Photographer of the Year
The Royal Observatory in Greenwich England has named its first Astronomy Photographer of the Year. This new annual competition is free and open to anyone interested check out the site to see some really cool images of the night sky.

Camera Obscura
September 15 - 17, 2009 the Algonquin Photography Camera Obscura will be up in room C126 come experience what it is like to be inside a camera.The first recorded use of a Camera Obscura was in the 5th century BCE by the Chinese Philosopher Mo-Ti, this device was also use by Aristotle (384-322 BCE) and the Islamic Scientist Alhazen (965 - 1039), this unique phenomenon is a must see.

Algonquin Photography Website 2009
The 2009 Algonquin Photography Website was launched at our Orientation last week. New alumni images are up on the main page click the plus sign (bottom left) to advance to the next image, they are random so be patient. Thanks to Shawn Carter, Chelsey Draycott, Lauren Swalsky, Sean Graves and Trevor Pearson for all their work on the site.

Pizza Orientation '09 - Thanks!!
Thanks to all the students and graduates that attended our annual Pizza Orientation it was a great kick off to our upcoming year.
Thanks to our suppliers Shereen and Doe from Apple, Dino from Henry's, Ken from Labworks and Andre´ and Mike from Vistek for taking the time to come and meet our students and of course, thanks for all the goodies.
Lastly we would like to give a shout out to Gordie and the cafeteria staff for all their hard work and the delicious pizza.
