Chris Wynn | Alumni Update

This is a reminder that director Chris Wynn, an Algonquin Photography Alumni, is having a screening of his film Forgetful Not Forgotten on Monday November 1, 2010 at 4PM in T102 at Algonquin College.

This film deals with the impact and conditions of Alzheimer's Disease on care givers and their families.  To attend please register for this free event here.

David LaChapelle Hotel LaChapelle

What to say about David LaChapelle he is just pretty darn cool.

We now have Hotel LaChapelle at the LRC, with more books by LaChapelle on the way.

I would recommend anyone who is interested in contemporary photography and popular culture to take a look a this book.

Sally Mann Immediate Family

Sally Mann's work has always stirred up controversy, her most controversial work is Immediate Family.

The book consists of a series of portraits of her children and is now available at the LRC, check it out yourself to see what all the fuss is about.

Lee Friedlander Self-Portrait

Lee Friedlander's unique perspective on the world is further examined in this book of Self-Portraits.  The book was originally published in 1970 with an afterword by John Szarkowski, the then curator of MOMA.

Philip-Lorca diCorcia

Philip-Lorca diCorcia's show at MOMA was followed up by this book.  The book showcases many of his early street photographs and portraits.

If you have never seen diCorcia's work we would highly recommend getting out this book from the LRC.

Diane Arbus Untitled

Diane Arbus' Untitled is her last work before her untimely death in 1971, this work covers her portraits done at an asylum between 1966 to 1971.

Diane Arbus Family Albums

Diane Arbus'  Family Album is a book of her commissioned work of family portraits and work done for Esquire magazine.

The book is comprised of several hundred photographs, contact sheets and two very good essays on Arbus.

Helen Levitt Photographs 1937-1991

This book on Helen Levitt covers her work from 1937-1991. Levitt is considered by many to be one of the great American Street Photographers.

She was admired by Walker Evans but was unknown by many of her other peers.

This great book by a great photographer is at the LRC.

Lomography & Motion

Lomography is a very cool phenomenon in the world of photography with a very big following.  We have never heard of Lomography and motion but someone has put the two together and created a very interesting piece of multimedia.
