Bill C-11 Passes The House

Copyright reform has been a long time coming in Canada and this week bill C-11 passed its final vote in the House of Commons.  It now moves to the Senate where it appears that it will have no problem passing.

This new bill has some interesting implications for photographers, videographers, musician and others who create, distribute and consume digital media.  It is definitely worth taking a look at and following the debate.

Below is another interesting document that outlines the Rights of Photographer in Ontario, click the image for a better view.

Adobe CS6 Beta Released

Adobe CS6 UI
The beta release of Adobe CS6 is out and it is a free download from Adobe Labs, it is kind of like Christmas in March.

We here in the Program are impressed with the updates and of course we love the new tone of the user interface.  For all you First Years and for all those who have recently applied we recommend downloading the beta as this is what you will be learning in September.

Thanks to First Year Kelly Grant for sending us the info on the beta release of Adobe CS6 currently called Superstition.

What We Are Reading

For months now we have been posting interesting articles in our Interesting Reads and of course posting new and current Books from our LRC in the Books section of our index.

Within the Program we are always trying to promote our students, grads and alumni to read and stay current on trends and issues in photography.

To help further promote this we have added a WHAT WE ARE READING section in our sidebar.   This is directly linked to our Google Reader account and will have the articles we think you should be reading right now.

It was training day at the Photography Program, we learned how to operate our new laminator. Tom White formerly of About Face came in for a full morning run down on the safe and proper way to laminate and dry mount.

C124 New Look (The After) 2009 | 2010

Let's just say that Bowie is very happy, the new printers have arrived, C124 has four new Epson 7900s and C125 and C131 have one each. These brand new 24" inch printers have HDR inks for better dynamic range and archival properties.

The Run (C124) is now a dedicated Print Lab, along with the new printers the large print viewing booth is now located in this room too.

C112 New Look (The After) 2009 | 2010

Over the past two days we have all been working hard to re-locate and organize all the gear from C122 into the new Studio Storage Room (C112), right across the hall.

The cabinets, grid wall, apple boxes and all the other gear like their new home so please return everything where you found it.

C126 New Look (The After) 2009 | 2010

The Production Room paint is dry, one of the drop box cabinets has been ripped out and a new floor installed.

We are gearing up for this coming year with a new Laminator and Foam Core Cutter. These items along with our existing Dry Mount Press has converted this room into a true Production Room.

So get ready to get printing when you return, the pictures in C131 and C125 need to be changed and you second years will be in charge of that. So keep on shooting because we want to see what you have been doing over the summer.

C122 New Look (The After) 2009 | 2010

The upstairs studio (C122) has been emptied the grid walls, cabinets, apple boxes and roll paper are now in C112, the new Studio Storage Room. All softboxes are being bagged and tagged and will now be stored in the ER and signed out as needed.

This will give us more space and help keep everything organized.

New Look (The Before) - 2009 | 2010

Things are getting primed and painted around here, C124 and C126 are going completely grey and C125 is getting a fresh new white coat of paint. The printer racks and Epson 4800s are gone and new printers, cameras and other photographic gear are arriving soon, stay in touch to keep up to date.
