Face and Film


O my goodness they grow up so quickly, our returning second year students Thomas Dagg, Melissa Ade, Jennifer Allison and Christos Spentzos are having a show at Arts and Architecture. The vernissage is on Friday, September 4th from 7pm – 10pm. Stop by to view some great work, mingle with industry types, have some snacks, refreshments and support your friends.

Art Photography Now - Susan Bright

This book covers recent art photography it is published by Aperture Magazine so you know it will be a good read and lots of images to look at.

The LRC has this just sitting up there waiting to be taken out.

Another great documentary by Ric Burns about one of the greatest photographers of the last century Ansel Adams. Book it out from the Learning Resource Centre today.

AMERICAN PHOTOGRAPHY A Cenutry Of Images PBS

This PBS documentary is new to the Algonquin's Learning Resource Centre it covers the vast history of American Photography up until the late 1980s a very interesting overview. To visit the companion website click here.

STRAND Under The Dark Cloth

This documentary about the legendary Paul Strand his photography and his relationship with his mentor Alfred Stieglitz and his wife the painter Georgia O'Keefe. This is also a new arrival to the Learning Resource Centre and a must see for any buddy young street photographer.

Art:21 Video Series PBS


Art:21: Art in the Twenty-First Century is a series of videos on at the Learning Resource Centre that deals with photographers, painters, sculptures and other artist today, Oliver Herring is one of the featured artist.

Art:21 also has a blog that keeps the series up to date.

Good News From Our Grads


One of our recent graduates, Amila Matthew, is currently working for a newspaper in Tbilisi Georgia, Georgia Today. Amila's two page photo story is above, congratulations Amila on your recent publication.

Information Session 2009

Today was our annual Program Information Session for our First Year Students. We met many of our new students, discussed the program, answered questions and gave a few tours.

The Faculty is looking forward to the upcoming year we have many exciting new additions to the program. It also looks like we have a great batch of new students and of course an awesome group of returning students, see you all soon!!

Photo Life - Emerging Photographers

Two of our graduates and a second year student have been included in Photo Life Magazine's Emerging Photographer contest Leslie Dornan, Andrew Cottingham and Amy Jenson, congratulations!!

Nikon Bob | New Nikon Coolpix S1000pj

Rarely will we comment on point and shoot cameras but Bob has sent us a really interesting one. The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj it is a point and shoot with a built in projector that is pretty darn cool.
