Andy Warhol Documentary by Ric Burns

Andy Warhol is one of the most influential artists of the last century. His fusion of art, consumerism and celebrity has had far reaching implications not only limited to the art world.

Photographer, Illustrator, Painter, Conceptual Artist, and Film Maker this visual visionary is worth checking out. Available at the Learning Resource Centre directed by Ric Burns.

Henri Cartier-Bresson The Impassioned Eye

Another new addition to the Learning Resource Centre The Impassioned Eye the biography of Henri Cartier-Bresson.

The inventor of the Decisive Moment, the founder of Magnum Photo and one of the greatest photographers of the last half century, what more needs to be said this movie is a must see.

William Eggleston in the Real World

This biography of the enigmatic photographer William Eggleston sheds very little light into his work but does delve deeply into his rather unorthodox life. A very interesting movie about a very unique and ground breaking photographer.

Check out this movie from the Learning Resource Centre at Algonquin College.

Contacts Vol. 1-3

At the Learning Resource Centre we have a new series of DVDs called Contacts Vol. 1-3. This series covers photojournalism, contemporary and conceptual photography through a series of interviews with photographers like Helmut Newton, William Klein, Martin Parr, Nan Goldin, Jeff Wall and many more.

This candid series offers a fascinating insight into the process that each of these photographers use to create their images. These volumes also cover many of the key issues and debates in and about photography over the last decade.

Must Read - Annie Leibovitz At Work

A new addition to the Learning Resource Centre Annie Leibovitz At Work is a great summer read. I have just finished reading it myself, the frequently asked questions and the gear section at the back is very informative. The book is also available at the Ottawa Public Library click for direct link.
